*Sea turtles are strictly protected by Hawaiian law and should not be approached within 3 meters.

The North Shore in winter was less crowded, so we could spend a relaxing time. Parasols are available for rent so you can protect yourself from sunburn. We were so relaxed and were so happy to see sea turtles coming to breathe close to us. We rented a snorkel set, but the water was a little cold, so we ended up just relaxing on the beach (lol), but we were still happy enough. I would like to come back next year during this season!

Haleiwa in the winter was most pleasant with few tourists. I was able to eat garlic shrimp at Giovanni's without waiting in line because of the long free time! On the beach, it was a miraculous experience to see a hatchling juvenile turtle emerging from the sand. The guide took us to a hole-in-the-wall spot, saying, "The waves are high today, so this is the place to go," and it was a great photo opportunity.

Even in December, the waves on the North Shore are still powerful! It was exciting to see surfers tackle the huge waves in person. The town of Haleiwa was cute and Christmasy, and I was happy to be able to take a leisurely stroll around. At Sea Turtle Beach, we were lent parasols and chairs so we could relax and sunbathe while turtle watching. It was a good decision to add the snorkel option! The water was crystal clear and full of fish!

The North Shore in winter is very powerful with great waves! It was exciting to see surfers riding the waves in person. We had a lot of free time in Haleiwa, so we were able to eat acai bowls and visit general stores. At Sea Turtle Beach, we were lent parasols so we could relax without worrying about the sun, and we were lucky enough to see a baby turtle, which was very relaxing. Because it was off-season, it was comfortable and not crowded!

I was looking for a tour that would allow me to ride in a wheelchair, but there were very few tours available from major travel agencies, I found a round-the-island tour of Oahu on this website. The driver spoke Japanese, so I was able to use my wheelchair as a reason for not being able to use the tour, If there are some tours that you are not allowed to join because of your wheelchair, I recommend you to consult with Loco-san, If you are in a situation where you are not able to participate in some tours because of your wheelchair, I recommend you to consult with Rocco here.
